This is absolute garbage
This garbage is not worth owning. The writer is borderline insane. His ideas are that boxing is the only way to fight, and his broken English is next to impossible to follow. The author or his representitives are online over on Yahoo and plague the clubs with SPAM and obnoxious posts even after being asked to stop repeatedly. The material that we have viewed is poorly made and the instruction is of very poor quality. You would be better off going to a third grade playground and learning to fight from the class bully. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your money on these books. He has further made reference that America deserved the attack on the 9/11. I would not give this man ANY American money.

West Orange, NJ
Published in Paperback by Arcadia Tempus Publishing Group, Inc. (18 September, 1998)
Author: Joseph P. Nole
Average review score:

An embarrassing slap-dash effort.
This book first appeared and quickly disappeared in a soft cover version during the autumn of 1998. It ran 96 pages, more than 30 pages less than the publisher's stated specs and it exemplifies precisely the disaster created by having an out-of-town PR person team with an out-of-town writer to interpret any town's local history. The cover sets the tone by claiming that the township is 300 years old -- in fact, it was founded in the 1860's. The uninspired text gives no feeling or understanding of time or place and completely lacks the nuance which makes any town unique. The photos are often incorrecly identified and as unbelievable as it sounds, some photos are not even of West Orange. We long-time residents had hoped for much better...

READING THIS BOOK IS LIKE TAKING A STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE
I just recently completed the History of West Orange and it was a fantastic journey into the history of our township. I felt as though I was re-living West Orange's history through the author's rich, lively text and the interesting photographs which bring his words to life. If the author is an "out-of-towner" than we should be grateful to him for giving us a historical book that we can all be proud of.

nature walks
Nature walks in orange county is a very good book. I liked the way the author gave listings of trails and what they include what to look for and hazards and even medical places to seek help if injured. i just find this book very interesting for the hiker in all of us.

Relocating to Los Angeles and Orange County: Everything You Need to Know Before You Move and After You Get There (Relocating To...)
Published in Paperback by Prima Publishing (27 July, 2000)
Author: David Seidman
Average review score:

A Repeat of Other Prima Guides
Relocating to Los Angeles and Orange County is the highest-ranking book on the topic, but a much better book for your money is the Newcomer's Handbook for Los Angeles. All the books in the Relocating to... series published by Prima (of which I've seen several) provide little original information. The bulk of the book is a word-for-word repeat of generic moving information that has nothing to do with Los Angeles in particular. Additionally, the part of the book that *is* specific to Los Angeles appears to leave key areas out. The Newcomer's Handbook series, on the other hand, is completely specific to the L.A. area -- no boilerplate information here. You'll find more-detailed neighborhood info, better maps, and more pertinent information on services that can help you find places to live. The Relocating to... series doesn't provide anything that you couldn't find by looking in the Yellow Pages (in print or online).

Only contains the most basic advice...
Most of the advice contained in this book can easliy be found on the web. It was a mistake to combine Los Angeles and Orange County into one book. Most people have already made up their mind that they are moving to either one or the other. Having information on the county you're not moving to is a waste. Information on various neighborhoods is very limited. The neighborhoods that are included receive only a cursory look, and many neighborhoods are left out.

No info on Silverlake or Los Feliz
Important note: This book doesn't contain information about Silverlake or Los Feliz

Interest of Justice
Published in Hardcover by E P Dutton (October, 1993)
Author: Nancy Taylor Rosenberg
Average review score:

Abominable book
This is the worst book I have read in years. The heroine is completely unsympathetic, the plot is ludicrous, the dialogue is laughable. As other reviewers have noted, the author plays fast and loose with complicated legal and ethical issues. Even the most uninformed mystery/thriller reader can see that the relationships between the judge, the DA, and the police department are totally implausible. Beyond being a bad book, it is also the worst edited book I can remember reading. Non sequiturs abound, completely contradictory sentences follow within a paragraph of each other, and the plot lurches awkwardly from scene to scene with no transitions. The Dutton editor responsible for this garbage should be fired.

Judges' don't get charges dismissed.
As a judge for nineteen years, I was particularly upset by thecasual manner in which the author treats the judge's ethics.Apparently the heroine gets her relatives out of trouble by using her "clout" and thinks nothing of it. In reality she could be disbarred for her actions. The author exhibits little knowledge of a judges' position in the legal system, and her treatment of a judges' role is an embarassment.

my version is missing pages 565 thru 588. HELP
My version is missing pages 565 thru 588, a critical part of the book, Please respond.

Living With Kids in Los Angeles and Orange County: A Comprehensive Family Resource Guide from Conception to College Planning
Published in Paperback by Denali Press (January, 1993)
Authors: Catherine Craft Dancer and Gerianne Craft Frazier
Average review score:

She missed half the city!
I had high hopes for this book, but when I got it I was sorely disappointed -- her definition of Los Angeles completely ignores the San Fernando Valley! Every pointer she had was either for the Basin or for Orange County. Hello -- the San Fernando Valley is part of LA too!

Orange County: A Centennial Celebration Sections of Orange
Published in Paperback by To the Point Pr (June, 1989)
Author: Doris Walker
Average review score:

a mixed crop
The book starts out strong, especially with regard to the facts and events of Orange County history. You come across facts here in the tale of a growing county, facts not recorded in many other books. And then....and then, the book turns into nothing more than a pitch for local businesses. The near-useless Table of Contents reflects this:

viii Messages (from various local functionaries)
1 Sections of Orange (all the useful info is here)
144 Disneyland (well, OK)
150 Disneyland Hotel (does this need its own chapter??)
152 St. John
156 The Irvine Company
158 AST Research, Inc.
160 RICOH
162 Digital Equipment Corporation....

Hey, what gives? One minute it's a celebration of Orange County, and the next one corporate profile after another, including photographs, sales pitches, and all the rest. The book ought to be titled: ORANGE COUNTY: A BRIEF HISTORY PLUS CURRENT BUSINESSES AND THOSE WHO STAFF THEM. One tries in vain to discount the suspicion that this sort of pitch for local business is itself part of the history of the county.....

omitted cemeteries
I am doing the research for several family genealogies.
I purchased this book because the description indicated that it listed the tombstones of Orange county.
After trying to use this book, it became evident that the tombstones from the chruch cemeteries were not listed and therefore limited my research.
My family is from Orange county however I could not find
any helpful information.

When Government Fails: The Orange County Bankruptcy

Zzzzzzzz
Although informative, the author needs almost 400 pages to say what could have easily been said in well under 100.
